Ooh I Get High (On the SERPs) With a Little Help From My Friends

Social Networking Sites To Make Your Blog Success

All of us have a huge resource at our fingertips that we rarely tap into when it comes to making our website or blog a huge hit. That resource is something universal and powerful, and it’s completely free to all of us.

Assuming you’ve read the title, then you’ve probably already guessed what that is: your friends. Unless you’re surname is Hitler or you were born with a severe case of body odour, chances are that you have at least a few acquaintances knocking around who would be happy to help you out with your online endeavours if only you’d ask them. Check out your Faceboook page – that’s probably around 100-200 contacts right there who are willing to promote your products, services and site for you completely free and that’s an incredible marketing advantage.

The Problem

The problem is that most people don’t want to utilize this tool. The reason is sometimes graciousness – that they don’t want to ask too much of their friends and inconvenience them. In other cases it’s shyness – that they don’t want to show everyone what they spend their time doing in case (heaven forbid) they don’t like it. And then finally in some other cases it’s just a matter of them not realizing that they have this opportunity at their disposal. Do you fall into one of those categories?

The reality is though that this is your livelihood – and that is something which people are likely to understand and be more than happy to help with. At the same time you shouldn’t be embarrassed of your work. Perhaps you should be rather, but if you are then you should note that this is a problem and something that you need to solve. If you are shy of your own work then that suggests that it’s not your best work. Consider this as an early test for what you are making – if you are too shy to show your work to your own friends – then is it really ready yet for public consumption? Time to have a rethink, and to design your site or products in such a way that you aren’t afraid to show them to others.

                                                                                     How Can They Help?

Now that you’ve decided to bite the bullet and make a serious go of this, how can you get your friends to help? Well the first and most obvious way is through these social networks. Ask your friends to like and share your links and pretty soon you will have reached the majority of their friends too. Suddenly you’ll have taken your viewers from your 100-200 friends to at least 100,000, and probably a lot more as they click share too (if it’s good). You should also ask them to share on other platforms such as Google+.

You should also ask for honest feedback from your friends, and you should not be afraid of criticism in this regard. Feedback from your friends is essentially free market research, but from someone who knows you and knows how to communicate their ideas with you – listen to what they have to say.

There is much more besides that you can get your friends to help you with. Ask them to wear a branded t-shirt, to mention your site to people, to write content – it’s all highly useful and best of all: free.
